"Vilnius 1912" was the second All-Russian Tournament of Masters. (The first was also at Vilnius in 1909.) Unfortunately, no tournament book was ever published.

In the 1960s a collection of games appeared over two articles in the Russian magazine Shakhmaty Bulletin. In 1990s A.J. Gillam published the results of his research in a booklet, limited to 100 copies. This remains the best collection available. However, there are still many missing games of all those who participated. Chess historians continue to scour the press looking for games from Vilnius 1912.

When the result is known it is shown preceding the opponents name and placed in parentheses for double round tournaments. When the opponents piece colour is known it is shown after their name as (W) for White and (B) for Black.

There are 75 games to be found, assuming they are not lost forever. The most likely sources will be old chess magazines, newspapers and private collections.

If you find one (or more) of these missing games or know where one (or more) can be found then please e-mail me at: webmaster@phileo.demon.co.uk.
